FOREWORD

Gil is a pleasant young man, and all he is looking for in the metropolis of New York City is someone to love. Someone to really care for, to live with, to take care of.

Poor Gil learns that New York City is not the best place in the world to look for a lover. Oh, he has lots of sex. He is a good-looking stud, attractive to almost everyone. But it seems that most people only want him to fuck, or to fuck them.

He meets David and Nick, two sex-crazed freaks who live in New York’s East Village. This is where Gil gets fucked up his beautiful ass, for the very first time.

He is surprised that he likes it so much. However, when it is over, these two lovers want nothing more to do with him.

He next meets Tony, a stud if there ever was one. Tony is into a visual game, taunting Gil, getting him excited as hell, and then asking Gil to fuck the living shit out of him. It is great! But once again, sex was all that the person wanted. And Gil was looking for so much more.

He tried the baths, and has a great fuck there. This, in a lot of ways, toughens him up inside. He is ready for anything, he thought!

After meeting and falling immediately in love with a beautiful stud named Joseph, they are kidnapped and blindfolded and driven up into the country somewhere, where a sadistic master rules with a vengeance.

What happens to Joseph and Gil up there, is quite some story!

Luckily, they find a friend who wants to help them escape, and once again free and in each other’s arms, they again reaffirm their love for one another.

The Butt Brander is a gay classic erotic fiction from 1974 that tells the story of Gil, a young and handsome guy from a small town in Ohio who moves to New York to search for himself and a soulmate. While New York offers the young man many sexual opportunities, he struggles to find the deep emotional connection that he always dreamt about.

From parks to bathhouses and leather bars, Gil eagerly explores the city’s gay scenes. Through these adventures, he continually meets other gay men who are willing to share whatever they can offer.

Gil’s first encounter is with the gorgeous Andre in a cruising park. Andre almost begs Gil to fuck him. The two engage in intense anal sex, but to Gil’s disappointment, as soon as he shoots his load, Andre smiles and disappears, probably looking for the next load. This gives Gil his first lesson about the gay scene in New York, leaving him emotionally empty.

The young man’s second encounter with the boutique owners, David and Nick, is not much different. The two men take Gil to their apartment, where they smoke grass and have an explicit threesome of gay sex. Gil agrees to be penetrated and loses his virginity. It’s during this encounter that Gil understands his submissive nature. But like Andre, the couple here are also not looking for anything but pure physical pleasure, which disappoints Gil.

Then he meets the handsome Tony, who acts straight at a rowdy bar. Soon the two leave for Tony’s apartment after Tony builds Gil up both sexually and emotionally, only to use him for physical pleasure. Tony expresses to Gil his desire for a lover, a statement that brings Gil joy and heightens his expectations. But Tony tells Gil that he is in a relationship with an older man who provides him with everything, including his apartment. So he understands that, like the other men he met, this one was no different as well.

Finally, love at first sight occurs with Joseph. The two fall for one another, forming a deep emotional and sexual bond. Joseph embodies everything Gil has dreamed of, from his beauty to his kindness and affection. This connection intensifies when they are kidnapped and taken to a secluded castle to be used by a sadistic master named Dago.

The story is well written, and with each experience, we see the main character going through character growth and maturity. He becomes more realistic in his expectations. This classic was written during the 1970s, and the 1970s/80s were a time of a sexually open and diverse New York in which gay men were opening up, experimenting, and openly expressing their desires. The story vividly captures this atmosphere.

The sex scenes are excellent and varied. I feel this book was written in a way to cater to all kinds of tastes in gay erotica. Now this could be a plus or even a drawback, depending on how comfortable you are reading stories with themes outside your comfort zone.

The writing itself moves rapidly. Occasionally, it feels more like a stream of consciousness, despite the story being narrated in the third-person style. But this is a good thing because at many times I felt like I was reading the main character’s mind and could understand and relate to all his needs and desires.

The author has created through his character a clear contrast between love and lust. He made the genuine emotional bond the core emotional goal of the story. The character was desperate to find that bond in the men he encountered.

I enjoyed reading this book, but I was not sure about my rating—whether to go with a 4-star rating or a 5-star rating. The main reason here is that the title of the book and its cover feel a bit deceiving to its content. I thought the book would be a pure BDSM gay story that is leaning towards the kinky subgenre, but that part is tiny and negligible. However, I enjoyed reading this tale and following Gil’s adventure, so I’m going with a 5-star. The cover also looks delicious with that bubble butt!

I haven’t read the actual book, but the review was so excellent that I’m reviewing the review. I hardly know when I’ve read a more carefully written porn book review. I’m certainly going to be on the lookout for more reviews from this reviewer! (And I totally agree about the cover!)
