Foreword
It is two weeks before Thanksgiving. A country weary of inflation, dollar devaluation and military spending, prepares to temporarily forget its troubles as it readies itself for the Thanksgiving festivities.
Then in quick succession a nuclear breeder plant is attacked, the Hollywood district in Los Angeles becomes a radioactive death trap for its residents; and a nuclear weapon constructed by a group of unknown radicals is exploded in the Mojave Desert. To the President and Congress a note is delivered—meet its demands, or the city of Los Angeles will be the victim of an atomic Holocaust.
Into this potential apocalypse is brought Jeff Bentley and Nick Dexter, two CIA agents who have earned the admiration and respect of their co-workers. Their assignment is to find the bomb that threatens the lives of nearly three million human beings in the Los Angeles basin.
The love of Man for Man is as old as Man himself. Much of the Western world’s ancient history has been altered or purged of sexual references, by overzealous religious and political monopolies, in the name of sanctity and decency. Yet, there are truths and events impossible to totally expunge from the record of Mankind. From Alexander the Great through the lover-warriors of Sparta—yes, and even such literary greats as Oscar Wilde—through to the present day, the homophilic man had been portrayed in history. Very rarely accepted by the majority of society, this man has had to fight for his rightful place, for his lawful right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—one man for another, in his own way, not that of others.
Homosexual civil rights are still at issue in this country, though this country represents itself as the beacon of freedom and liberty to the rest of the world. Through education of the populace, the homosexual’s preferred lifestyle is finding ever increasing acceptability and tolerance by the majority. Largely due to our Puritanical inheritance and periodic political and/or religious influences, homosexuality was previously categorized as a “disease” and “perversion”. Yet, once again through education and exposure, acceptance is definitely on the increase.
