Foreword
Sometimes we go through life, confused, uncertain as to who we are and where we are going, having set out in our search for meaning at the well intended suggestions or even demands of others.
Then one day, when it seems that boredom has set in and the things we do routinely no longer appeal to us, we decide to alter that course and start living our own lives, devoid of the prejudices of others, with our own set of values and loyalties.
And strangely enough, the very things we were pursuing start appearing at every turn. The goal, the dream, the aspiration all seem not so out of touch as we had expected, but have been there all along awaiting only the touching off of the right key in the curious keyboard of molecular cells we call our mind.
Such discoveries are made in places as remote as China or as near as our local drugstore. The person, the friend, the revered stranger suddenly seem so approachable, not because he is suddenly there, but because our perception of him has altered and our fear of him has withered away.
It is easy to distrust that with which we are not familiar with a “sorry, not interested” and to cling to only that with which we feel at ease. And yet, once down, the unwritten restrictions and well codified set of regulations by which we live, suddenly lose their precedence in our pursuit of our own desires.
We can move, talk and walk among those who would be enemies and find them less forbidding than before because we have learned that no matter how many weapons or tactics they may be ready to level at us, there is no way they can put up a defense against the matured mind. Ideas, not actions, concepts, not propaganda, are perhaps the most valuable weapons each of us possess and used discreetly, with an eye toward the overall picture, we can not only defeat, but excel over those who would be our detractors.
Armed with these thoughts, the characters in this novel set out in search of themselves and strange, awesome and yes, even bizarre as the events that befall them may seem, they hit upon an old but ever timely truth that Love, not the tri-headed monster of hate, fear and envy, is the final captor.
