“If you want me to help you find your slave, then you shall become my slave for the evening, to do my bidding and allow me to do what I wish with you, without complaint, quarrel, or question.”
“I cannot,” said Korat, shaking his head. He had not served any other man since his youth, and could not bring himself to accept the proposition.
“As you wish, barbarian. You can stay the night here, if you like, and in the morning, you will go. But by then your poor slave’s trail will be quite cold, and I will not help you.”
“You are a devious one, Zinovy,” said Korat. “I have changed my mind. I will accept. I will submit to you and be your slave for the night, so long as you release me at sunrise and tell me where I might find my slave.”
Zinovy chuckled deep within his throat, clapping his hands together, pleased with his victory.
“Then stand up, slave,” said the wizard, “and remove all your garments, from headband down to your boots. You will respond to all my commands by saying, ‘Yes, sir,’ or ‘Yes, great wizard.’”
“Yes, sir,” said Korat, lowering his head as he stood up. He began unfastening his chest harness.
“Hurry, barbarian,” said Zinovy. “I want to see you as naked as the day you were born.”
