Foreword
Patrick is a callow, inexperienced adolescent with, however, two advantage: he already knows he is gay, and because he has grown up in San Francisco he knows how to go about ridding himself of his unwanted virginity. But once that technicality is taken care of, Patrick doesn’t know what to do with himself. Like so many kids adrift in large cities, he takes to the streets in search of excitement. It’s quite an erotic education, as a fake-cowboy hustler, Danny, helps to teach Patrick about life in the wrong part of town.
But it isn’t until a handsome, successful male model takes him in that Patrick’s true sexual education begins. Jordon, the model, is sophisticated and uninhibited, and blessed and with patience to show a youngster how to make love and cope with gay life. But Jordon has his personal hangups—about ageing, drinking, drug-taking, and jealousy—that gradually threaten to tear him and Patrick apart.
On his on again, Patrick instinctively turns back to Danny. But, thanks to Jordon, Patrick can no longer be satisfied with the world of the streets for long. He decides, impulsively, to get away from San Francisco altogether… and what better way to get away from it all than by signing up in a branch of the uptight, discipline-obsessed U.S. armed forces!
It looks as though Patrick has made a ghastly mistake—until he discovers that the wicked big city has no monopoly on sex, kinky or otherwise. But Patrick’s past pursues him… and he is once again forced to make difficult decisions about his own life.
