Excerpt

But Mike saw Joe was getting hard, so he shifted the conversation around to a point where he could find control again.

Then he wondered to himself—what did he want to control?

Joe was indeed very positive, very beautiful, and for a moment Mike flashed on the possibility that Joe was the guy—the person—he’d been waiting for.

But then the shame of sex, when he’d have sticky come on his hands, and his ever-failing resolution to stop banging at himself, flooded in again. Mike lay closer to Joe.

Joe moved closer. It was dangerous, Mike knew. If Joe got excited, there’d be no need to get the key and slip away; he’d rip into Mike, and then Mike’d be just another sex-crazed madman, as Mike’s father called them.

“Please, Joe,” Mike breathed into his ear. “Can’t you and I just wait, next to each other like this? I want to—to know you before anything… happens.”

Joe smiled and closed his eyes and snuggled alongside Mike. Mike’s lower jaw, always semiopen, broke into a smile as Joe’s body quickly began to relax.

Mike deliberately turned over on his back and lay butt-in against Joe, who reciprocated by putting his arm over Mike’s shoulder.

The key was right in front of Mike’s eyes. For a second, Mike was reminded of Peter’s little cock, which had poured out sperm on him, earlier. The memory made Mike wonder if he should have grabbed the boy’s prick, stuck it in his mouth, and sucked until he’d sucked in all the kid’s guts.

No. Mike knew he was being tempted to turn over, body to body with Joe, begin the warm swings back and forth over each other, then squish out emptiness. No. Mike had to get away.

He jerked slightly as he recalled the real threat, the dark figure hidden in the control booth in the dining hall, the hidden man standing below him, over the cliff with its thunderous roars that seemed louder at night because everything is more terrifying at night. Mike wondered if the hallway would be dark and fearsome. As a boy, he had always been afraid of the dark.

Joe was asleep for hours before Mike made his move.
