Introduction
“Please—please don’t take my money,” begged the boy. Buck looked inside the boy’s wallet. It had sixty dollars in it.
Buck took out three tens, and tucked them into his pocket.
The boy grabbed his arm, and Buck slapped him hard across the face with his wallet. The boy started crying.
“Shut up, you queer bastard,” said Buck. “Just be glad I didn’t break your face in.”
He tossed the wallet back to the boy, and the boy let it fall at his feet, afraid to pick it up.
Buck Wilson, fresh out of the Marines, decides it’s the seamy side of life for him.
He forgets what it is like to be human and decent until he meets Keith, who just about changes his whole life.
