Healthy, sensual, attractive teen-age boys attract many an older man, and many such boys are introduced to sexual activity by an interested older person who may act as an informal “big brother,” a youth group leader or perhaps a much admired coach.
However, there also are handsome boys who are the aggressors, who take the first steps to involve others in sexual adventures, sometimes even when the older person is reluctant to become involved. That older person may realize the potential dangers of such a liaison, since society often frowns on the involvement of “innocent” teen-age boys with older men.
The phenomenon of sexually potent teen-agers actively pursuing, seducing and perhaps even compelling an older man to participate in sexual interludes, and the problems that can arise from such situations, is the theme of the latest explosive novel by Scott McBride.
In this graphic, no-holds-barred study, McBride deals with the dangers of sexual play in a small community in which almost every movement of every inhabitant is soon known by the rest of the community.
A handsome young musician engaged as the high school band director comes to town fully realizing the potential dangers of any sexual activity, and determined to avoid any such incident.
But he doesn’t reckon with the powerful sexual urges of the town’s teen-agers, particularly one young stud who quicky recognizes that the teacher is attracted to him sexually and proceeds to exploit this interest completely. Despite the teacher’s efforts to avoid an involvement, the student is insistent.
At the same time, the teacher is attracted to a sensitive young Chicano who despite his poverty-stricken background is determined to better his situation. But the teacher is reluctant to make known his true feelings toward the young man, for fear of alienating him.
It is inevitable that the teacher’s forced involvement with the sex-hungry young student and his buddies will explode, and that he finds himself being confronted by two angry deputy sheriffs who point out the seriousness of his situation.
The outcome of the encounter makes for a fast-paced, sexually stimulating and graphic climax, and vividly points out the dangers as well as pleasures of involvement with teen-agers.
