Amos Colby had it made. A job that any sports-loving, man-loving, naked-body-loving stud would give at least one of his balls for, that of covering sports for the local outlet of one of the major television networks. Carte Blanche to the inner sanctum, an open door to the locker rooms and all those beautiful, built, exhibitionistic jocks in all states and stages of undress.
Amos learned a lot covering the sports beat, and as much of what he learned was about himself and his own acceptance of life, as about the sly-grinning studs he interviewed before, mid way-through, and after the games that got the adrenalin flowing, the senses tingling, the flesh responsive.
Unashamed of his desires, he learned the hard way what can happen when one is ashamed, afraid, hiding in the too-long closed closet. Unsuspecting, he walked into the maze of a mind unable to accept its own thoughts and instincts, discovering the webs and tangles such self-loathing can create, the artificial justification that can be manufactured to make things seem right in a twisted, hating mind.
A lesson he wouldn’t forget, an appreciation of his own uncomplicated reality and self-acceptance which automatically broadened out, expansive, to include the rights of all mankind to be and do, to accept and understand the rights and differences of all others.
Amos experienced the wrongs of the world in which he lived, a lesson reinforced by his own innocence of such evils. The reinforcement his experiences added to his own live-and-let-live philosophy served him well, if for no other reason than the very living through them.
Stronger than ever, Amos Colby knew himself better than ever following his part played out in THE GAME OF INCHES. He had new insights to himself, new awareness of and confidence in friends and ideas that had proven themselves to him.
Amos Colby wouldn’t have chosen to experience the things that happened to him, but when it was all over and life settled back to normal, he wouldn’t have had it any other way for all the pain and uncertainty, because the positive aspects of his life showed through golden and proven.
