Dana would have to convince Sean that he had changed. This wasn’t four or five years ago, nor even a year and a half ago. This was today and he was a very different person. Somehow he would have to prove that to Sean.
He wondered how Sean would see him, as a confused, frightened young man barely into his twenties, as he had once been, or as the more confident, better adjusted twenty-five year old man he now was? That was something that only time would tell. However Sean would see him, Dana wanted to make sure that it was at his best Looking in the mirror, he wondered if he had changed very much in appearance over the last eighteen months. There was a line or two around the eyes that hadn’t been there before.
The hair was a little darker, but only because he hadn’t been able to spend much time out in the sun lately. Whatever it was that Sean had found so fascinating about him, that something which had always eluded himself, Dana hoped was still there. He hoped that none of the hardness, the bitterness of the past few months was too evident Those were things that would be better said later, when he was more certain of his position with Sean.
Beautiful, handsome Sean. Dana looked at his watch. It was eight-thirty Chicago time. If Sean followed his usual pattern he would be just rising, getting ready to go to the office.
As he finished brushing his teeth, Sean mentally berated himself for having had so much to drink last night He knew he had only had four or five drinks but it had been so late when he finally got to bed that it felt as if he had had fifteen or twenty, which he usually only did on weekends or when he had spent a boring evening with his mother and associates from the paper.
