Foreword
Gold Valley, California isn’t too difficult to find. Just turn off the freeway, travel for an hour or so along Highway 49 through the Mother Lode country, take the back road into the hills… and there it is.
Maybe it’s not on the map, but it’s there.
Or maybe Gold Valley is really a state of mind, a place where studs like Tex and Jerry and Hunk and Skeet can laugh and joke, curse and worry, live and love without the restraints of big city society.
But beneath the open, lusty humor of Gold Valley lies the gentle, drawled philosophies of Tex who just wandered into town one day and settled down.
For many, life is real and earnest, and homosexuality is a cross to be borne in silent suffering. But for the studs of Gold Valley, life is to be lived to the fullest, honestly and openly and happily.
Can gays find a place like Gold Valley?
Perhaps… if they start by trying right at home.

The book is not big on plot, but it’s still a great read because it’s written in camp style. There’s lots of gay guys and everybody’s cool about it, but it’s the humorous style that makes this such a fine book. Sexy too!
