FOREWORD
Steve Riggs, the very young energetic owner of a private detective agency, who is out to solve a murder and clear a friend, brings to light the extremes to which a Washington, D.C. private detective will go to earn his ‘victory stars.’
Mickie Langston, Steve’s client, had a queer roommate who was found dead—and nude—as a result of a karate blow at the base of his skull. As the story progresses, two more known homosexuals are killed in the same manner.
Steve had been what the queers called a ‘straight’ cat, whose sexual appetite was satisfied only by the opposite sex, but he bends somewhat and begins patronaging the gay spots in Washington, D.C., goes home with sailors and marines, and he rapidly learns the ‘tricks’ of the ‘trade.’
‘You have a nice basket,’ the marine whispered.
‘What’s a basket?’ Steve asked.
‘I have my hand on your basket.’
‘Oh, I see… ‘ Steve whispered, ‘a girl has a box and a guy has a basket… ‘
Steve’s investigation seems to be more of a pleasure than a chore. What Ronnie Anderson has given his readers is a story—a true way of life—that holds nothing back and should cause every cruising queer to worry. It blows the lid off the undercover activities of those handsome sailors and marines stationed in and around Washington, D.C., where women out-number the men 12 to 1, but the service boys still prefer to flock to their own kind sexually.
