The young man’s first sexual experience had been at the age of fourteen, with another boy of the same age. Although they hadn’t done much, the affair had lasted for well over a year. They had spent the whole of one long, hot summer almost constantly in each other’s company; swimming, hiking, and gymnastics in which they were both interested. They also both went to the same high school in Los Angeles and they lived not far from each other.
However, that boy was now happily married, but it hadn’t worked out that way for Tim. He never forgot that summer. It remained in his memory like a dream, a dream of innocence and sexual awakening. After that, he had had several experiences with other boys, but it had never been the same. Never, that is, until he met Jacque a French-Canadian boy whose parents had migrated to Los Angeles.
Both had been eighteen and were at the same college. Attraction to each other had been immediate and mutual. Jacque with his blonde hair and blue eyes confirmed the saying that opposites attract. But they were no longer children and life had not been easy for them. They were young men, and society expected them to behave as such. They spent a lot of valuable time dating girls, attending college dances, and otherwise doing what their parents and everyone else, thought that young men of their age should be doing.
They hadn’t been clever enough, however.
They were seen too often together, and rumors circulated the college. Those rumors eventually reached the ears of their parents, and it had been Tim’s father who had staged a “man-to-man” talk with him.
