Foreword
Mike Jordan lay in his bed listening to his older brother Steve make his way somewhat ineptly up the stairs. Steve had been out on a date, and he’d obviously had a bit too much to drink.

Mike listened while his brother took a piss and then made his way down the hallway to the room they shared in their parents’ home in Sioux City, Iowa. He hoped his brother wouldn’t have too much trouble negotiating the ladder to the upper bunk.
As the door opened, the room was flooded with light.
Steve crossed unsteadily to the other side of the room and began to take off his clothes. The process was slow because he had some problems in the area of manual dexterity.
When Steve was naked, he turned and faced his brother. “So you ain’ asleep, after all?” he asked.
“It’s a little difficult with the light and all,” Mike said.
