WELL, WHY NOT?…
“Do you have a girlfriend yet?” Mal asked. “Oh, no, sir. I never intend to get married. I haven’t told Daddy yet, but I think I shall become a homosexual,” Roger stated blandly.
“A homosexual!” Mal laughed. “Good God, you’re only eighteen years old. What in hell do you know about homosexuality?”
“Quite a bit, really,” Roger said, as if he were talking about the weather. “You see, Nanny sent me away to a boarding school for boys. That was two years ago, when I was sixteen. There were lots and lots of homosexuals there. And I must say, I had a most delightful time after the lights were turned off in the dorm.
“Of course, before I ever went away to boarding school, I had learned to masturbate. Started that when I was about fourteen. But at the boarding school, I think I fell in love with my roommate. He was a lovely young chap from Manchester. He was one year older than me. James knew all about homosexuality, when he came to the school. And it wasn’t too long before I knew as much as he did.”
“What did you used to do in bed?”
“We played sixty-nine most of the time,” Roger stated candidly. “It was delightful. And I must say that I do miss it so much, now that I’m home again. I’d try it with my oldest brother Ralph, but he’s only sixteen and I fear he would tell Daddy.”
“How long has it been since you’ve been to bed with a man?” Mal asked.
“Nearly six months now,” Roger replied. “Would you like to try it with me?” Mal asked. “Oh, to be sure, if you feel you’d enjoy it.”
So this is homosexuality in England, Mal thought. It is as natural to Roger Griffen at the age of eighteen as breathing. Well, why not? After all, there’s all this talk about the explosion in the world population. Maybe England has solved the problem…
