Foreword
Onyx D’Or is a well-known figure in the world of the arts. Photographer, model, actor, he had made his mark in a world that offered him nothing he wasn’t willing and able to fight to achieve.
Two strikes against him right at the start, black and gay, in a world unwilling to make room for either, Onyx (a pseudonym to protect him from those who would be overly outraged by this exposure of his true life style) nevertheless made his way, if not in the exact course he might have chosen, at least in a related field.
Onyx is his own man, without undue shame, without over-burdening guilts to weight him down, making him ineffectual in his life.
He has chosen, as we all should choose, to live our lives to satisfy our own needs and drives, caring little for the over-rated sensibilities of society in general, a society itself, wrapped in guilt and fear, unable to remember the realities of their own, early lives, their undisguised reactions and responses, before they were caught up in the ‘rights’ and ‘wrongs’ and ‘goods’ and ‘bads’ imposed on them in their turn.
There is dignity and glory in not allowing oneself to be ensnared in that called ‘the right way’ by those who have not found their own answers, yet seem to know the right way for everyone else.
