Foreword
There are some who say that the gay life is the good life, and, indeed, when circumstances are favorable, it could be said that it’s true. There are, however, some aspects of homosexuality which can easily bring grief, pain, loneliness. This is changing to the extent that we—as humans—appear to be entering a Renaissance of understanding and self-acceptance. While but a few years ago an acceptable game was “beating up fags in the park johns” today it is hopefully “you do your thing and I’ll do mine.”
A note of interest regarding homosexuality: This is unproven “scientifically,” of course, but the man who fears and hates homosexuals (strong words?) is more often than not trying to compensate or sublimate his own unconscious fascination (love? interest?) with homosexuality.
The gay life is certainly a “different” life, one fraught with adventures and misadventures, and beneath the surface of much of it lurks what might well be called manic hysteria as these people seek life and diversion therefrom.
Our Mark, in Do It Up Brown, is certainly no shirker in the thrill-seeking department, as he and his friends search for ever newer, ever more frantic diversions…
