Foreword
Bigotry, torture, even murder have been an unfortunate threat through the ages to various groups, including homosexuals. Even in today’s more premissive society there are those who would suppress homosexual practices.
The World War II mass murders of millions of Jews by vicious Nazi Germans has been well documented. Less known is the fact that in the Third Reich’s efforts to create a “super race,” Nazi Germany condemned homosexuality and actively pursued and exterminated those unfortunates who professed love of another man.
As the German Jews were ordered to wear the Star of David so that they could be readily identified, great numbers of German gays were forced to declare their practices by wearing a lavender triangle.
Curiously, it also has been documented that there were many sadistic German officers who in their efforts to eradicate both Jews and homosexuals themselves resorted to brutal torture, often with homosexual overtones.
Although the Third Reich is a thing of history, there are still refugees from the ranks of those German torture chambers alive, living in seclusion in many countries.
Although many fled to South American nations where they were safe from extradition, others found havens in such other nations as Mexico. They discovered that with judicious bribes to local police they could live unmolested.
However, there are former victims of Nazi terror and torture who have devoted their lives to seeing that these men are brought to justice.
It is one of these plots to bring a particularly vicious, sadistic former Nazi to court that is the basis for Scott McBride’s newest novel.
