INTRODUCTION
In “Homo,” Sidney Bookman, visiting in England, dealt with a theme of sexual abnormality in a most uncommon manner. Because of his intimate knowledge of the practice and language of homosexuality, the author has been mistaken for a homosexual. He disclaims this charge with wry humor, stating that he is disgustingly heterosexual “with no more homosexual tendencies than the next man.”
“Homo” was banned by the Chief London Censor within three weeks of its publication throughout the British Isles. It was nevertheless exported abroad and became a favorite collector’s item in libraries of avant-garde erotica on the Continent.
Continental Classics presents the original and unexpurgated version of Bookman’s story from the standpoint that a knowledge of special perversions in the sexual area can help the reader avoid the pitfalls of easy personal indulgence. Because of its theme, this book is recommended only for the graduate student or mature adult reader.
