FOREWORD
It was an old school.
It had been old for a very long time. Old ceilings, old walls, old floors.
It was the high school that served a bad neighborhood, a community of the deprived, of losers.
And everybody who went there was a loser, the child of losers. With a few exceptions.
Very few.
And Jim was not one of them.
He was every bit as much a loser as the rest. And he was the new kid in school. Which made it worse.
All he had going for him was his strength. That, and the willpower to use it as he saw fit. Provided he did not let somebody else use it and him.
