FOREWORD

“How much do you charge?” the man asked.

A nice-looking guy, not that much older than Al, and not that much taller either. He was a big-shouldered, big-chested kind of guy, with long black hair that he kept tied back tight into a tail that rested on the left shoulder of his black leather bike jacket.

Smooth faced, with black eyes shining in the streetlights overhead, he had a smug look on his face as Al checked out the tan, square-toed boots on the guy’s feet and read the motorcycle logo stretched across the white T-shirt he wore under his jacket. Al shrugged. Why the hell not, he thought, even though the guy didn’t strike him as the type who would want to pay for it. Hell, the man could have charged.

“How much you got?” Al asked him—his standard opening before he laid down his price for services. He stepped toward the biker, casually, cautiously, as the guy looked him over once more.

“For you?” the man considered. “Dinner.”
