Foreword

The little kid rode his bike around, on the rail, delivering the newspapers. He knew that big thing between his legs was good for something besides hand-jobs and he could hardly wait for some man to take it all and empty it once and for all. He let it show, waiting for a groper… and he caught the best mouth-man in town.

* * *

Legend has it that a subway placard in New York City bore the following graffiti:

MY MOTHER MADE ME A HOMOSEXUAL

Under this plaintive little confession, another commuter had written:

FAR OUT!

HAVE HER MAKE ONE FOR ME!!!

Psychology books tell us that some mothers essentially do make homosexuals of their sons. And depending on the book you read or the people you talk to or the experience you’ve had, it appears that there might be other reasons for the development of the homosexual taste and personality. Genetics, childhood trauma, the father relationship as well as the mother relationship, all these things and more have been declared as causes for the departure from the accepted social norm of the strictly heterosexual male. Whether the individual is a straight, a bi, or a gay, he wonders where it all came from.

The hero of this book wonders about himself. He’s as normal as any boy can be who grows up in Hollywood, surrounded by any number of varieties of sexual temptation. His guidance is minimal, he’s got to get along on his own, and he wonders about this development of his even as it is happening to him.

When boy grows to young man, when the fires of spring are banked if not quenched, his wonderment grows deeper, more serious. Is he really a homosexual, and if so, why? Can he live with this personality, or is there a way to turn things around, to find the path leading to home and kids and jolly-happy wife?

It’s just a story. The questions he asks are all fictitious. But the way in which he asks these questions, the burning need to know, these are presented so clearly and starkly that they will strike home to any reader who has questioned his own personality and sexuality. Troubled thoughts by a troubled young man, asked between bouts of wild sexual excitement and the morass of self-guilt which follows.

It’s a roller coaster ride, taken by a boy on a bicycle, a boy like you’ve seen a hundred times at least, a boy with a newspaper carrying sack slung over his sturdy shoulders, pedaling along and distributing news, while his active mind and body seek answers and satisfaction.
